Circadia develops Serum 71 in honour of company founder

Circadia’s first new launch of 2023 is Serum 71, a product designed to deliver brightening, lightening and tightening effects for all skin types

With the strapline “a nod to the past, with an eye on the future”, the new serum is a tribute to Circadia’s founder Dr Peter Pugliese’s contributions throughout his career as a chemist. It’s named after the year he joined the Society of Cosmetic Chemists – 1971.

The active formula has been blended with a trio of tranexamic, mandelic and azelaic acids. The ingredient roster also includes beta-glucan and neodermyl, claimed to be a next-generation copper peptide that helps effectively build back collagen and elastin.

“There are many ingredients that have become traditional features in skincare formulations, but the history behind them is still really important,” says Michael Pugliese, “each of these ingredients came from a person or group of people who were passionately pursuing them.”

Peter Pugliese conducted clinical studies and made major discoveries which have informed skincare product formulations to this day. His most major finding included uncovering that copper assists in fibroblast activity and works as an antioxidant by preventing free radical damage. He also conducted the original penetration tests of beta-glucan on the skin in the late 80s.

Fast forward to 2023 and Circadia’s CEO Michael Pugliese is reviving his grandfather’s innovations while putting his own spin on these industry-standard ingredients.

Circadia describes Serum 71 as “innovative for our time while also honouring the rich history and work that went into creating it”.

Serum 71 can now be purchased through any authorised Circadia retailer.
